A session end celebration was held at Hillcrest Elementary to celebrate the Valid Reading After School Program.
Twice a week 12 students in grades 3 to 5 enjoyed literacy focussed activities and field trips during the after school program sponsored by Valid Manufacturing Ltd.
Activities included writing stories, following recipes, finding words in our environment and readers theatre presentations, while field trips included visits to the Salmon Arm Arts Centre, Salmar Theatre and Inclusive Arts.
All of the activities are designed to help children explore reading and encourage them to bond as a group by laughing and sharing in a safe setting. Each program is lead by a teacher and supported by education assistants and volunteers.
