Unplug & Play is set to take place January 25-30th!
We’ve heard from many people that the best parts of Unplug & Play are spending quality family time together, taking a digital detox from screen time, and connecting with local community members. Being mindful of the pandemic, we feel we’ve found a solution this year that will serve families all across the Shuswap while being safe and socially responsible.
Unplug & Play will still have both in-person events (ex: snow shoeing, story walks), as well as at-home events (ex: snowman building, popsicle stick towers). We will not have any online content, but encourage parents to email photos of their family’s best at-home creations to be shared on our social media.
We have worked with a number of organizations in past years to provide fun, free activities in our community. Last year we hosted 1637 children and 791 parents at our 52 events across the Shuswap! If you are interested in hosting or participating in events this year, please contact us at 250-463-4555, or admin@shuswapliteracy.ca. Our cutoff date is December 11th, so please include an outline of your plans that we can use in our preparation.
As you are aware, we will be adapting to the provincial updates regarding lockdown as they are released. We will be in touch with updates in late December/early January once we have a better idea of the size and scope of this year’s event.
