This January 25 – February 1, 2025, during Unplug and Play Family Literacy Week, we invite you and your family to take a break from screens and rediscover the power of real-world connections. Join us in communities throughout the North Okanagan-Shuswap for a week filled with over 50 free activities and events designed to help families unplug and engage in fun, community-centered experiences.
From magic shows to puppet plays, swimming to skating and music exploration to theatre and juggling lessons, we have something for everyone! These events will give you and your children the chance to connect with community, explore new activities, and meet your neighbours – all while taking a break from screens.
In partnership with local organizations and businesses, LASS is proud to bring free, fun-filled events to families in the region. Whether you’re looking to enjoy outdoor activities, explore the arts, or discover a new physical activity, there’s an event for everyone!
This week is more than just a break from technology – it’s an opportunity to focus on the importance of literacy, physical activity, and social connections. When we spend time away from screens, we open up space for creativity, conversation, and deeper connections with our families and communities.

- Join the Fun: Attend as many events as you can, and encourage your family to step away from screens and get active!
- Enter to Win Prizes: After completing your passport, drop it off at any local elementary school or your StrongStart program for a chance to win prizes.
