Did you know Canadian children spend an average of 42 hours in front of a screen per week? That’s six hours a day of viewing a computer, TV, tablet or cell phone.
During our annual Unplug and Play Family Literacy Week (January 26 – February 2, 2019) we invite families to step away from their screens and consider the role technology plays in daily routines. With over 50 activities and events planned in five North Okanagan-Shuswap communities there will be many opportunities to connect with family and community without screens.
LASS, in partnership with community organizations and businesses, will be hosting free events in Salmon Arm, Enderby, Armstrong, Sicamous and the South Shuswap. Join us for magic shows, swimming, snowshoeing, skating, early years fairs, puppet plays and much more!
Download the student passport and drop the completed passport at StrongStart programs or your local elementary school for a chance to win prizes!
