LASS has facilitated Preschool PALS (Parents As Literacy Supporters) for preschoolers in all nine StrongStart programs in the school district. The sessions are either “Storybook Reading”, “Print in our Community”, or “Riddles, Raps, & Rhymes”.
The goal of PALS is to work with parents and caregivers to support their children’s early literacy development. At each session parents/caregivers learn techniques to aid their children’s reading, preschoolers participate in a number of literacy activities with their parents/caregivers, and each child receives some books to take home.
PALS is not currently running but we hope to offer the program again in the future.
