The “Jam the GM” Children’s Book Drive will launch on Monday, January 6, 2014, in the Salmon Arm GM showroom. Throughout the month of January, a GM vehicle will be in the showroom and the challenge is for community members, businesses, organizations, and schools to donate gently used children’s books and “jam” them in the back of the GM.
During Family Literacy Week (January 27 to February 2) a GM vehicle will also be parked in the Piccadilly Mall by the library. Community members will be encouraged to make their children’s book donations at either the dealership or Piccadilly Mall.
Drop-Off Locations:
• Salmon Arm GM (month of January)
• Piccadilly Mall (January 27 to February 2)
• Sicamous Eagles Game (Sunday, February 2)
At the end of the week, all of the books will be collected, sorted and then later distributed to local children’s organizations to support family literacy in our community. The Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society (LASS) has partnered with Salmon Arm GM, the Mall at Piccadilly, and the Sicamous Eagles to help promote the “Jam the GM” Children’s Book Drive.
