Happy International Literacy Day!

Things are a little different this year, but we are excited to continue offering all of our regular programming, as well as adding in a few new programs!
ONE-TO-ONE reading program will continue this year in an online format, using Zoom (a video conferencing platform) and Epic Books (an online reading tool). The program is open to all students in grades 2-5, whether they are attending school, staying home, involved in a home school program, or any combination of learning. Registration is happening directly between LASS and interested parents, so please contact us if you have a student in mind who could benefit from some one-on-one reading time. If you’d like to benefit from the program, contact Terra at childprograms@shuswapliteracy.ca.
TABLET TRAINING is a new program in partnership with the Salmon Arm Seniors Resource Centre. We are providing introductory training on how to use tablets, with the first session taking place on Monday, September 14th at 10am (spaces already filled). Please contact the Seniors Resource Centre at 250-832-7000 to learn more about all of their great programs.
TRIVIA NIGHT is taking place on Tuesday, September 22nd from 7pm-8:30pm over zoom. This pay-what-you-can fundraiser is open to teams of 2-6 people, and we will be competing against other literacy advocates all across British Columbia! Gather your friends, create a clever team name, and click here to register.
SOCK IT TO LITERACY is returning a little early this year, and we are now taking orders for our hugely popular merino socks. Retailing for $7 per pair, over $2 of every purchase goes to support our Literacy programming here in the Shuswap. You can order online now by contacting Sierre at info@shuswapliteracy.ca.
September is Literacy Month, and we are so excited to return to programming! For more information or questions on any of our services, email Thomas at admin@shuswapliteracy.ca.
