September 25th is the first annual Give Like Dolly Day! This 9/25, we’re celebrating Dolly Parton’s generosity and the difference books can make in a child’s life.
Last week, we asked local families what the Imagination Library has meant to them. Lauren told us that her son’s favourite book from the program is Three, about a three-legged dog. They’ve read it countless times. Keera told us her three-year-old memorized Towed By Toad and now “reads” it to her little sister. We love hearing which books become family favourites!
Want to give like Dolly today? Here are three ways:
1. Give a donation. It costs about $50 to send one local child a book every month for a year. Visit shuswapliteracy.ca, click “Donate”, and choose the local Imagination Library fund.
2. Give time. Read a book with your child. You could also use our colouring sheet to talk together about generosity and how a small act of kindness can mean a lot to someone else.
3. Give books. Have books you’re ready to pass along? Add them to a Little Free Library. We’ve made a map with a few of the locations we know about.
